Taylor Wimpey has submitted plans for 272 new homes at Alconbury Weald, which are set to be delivered close to the future Runway Park and the next phase of the Enterprise Campus.

The new homes will range from one to five bedrooms, comprising apartments, bungalows, houses and townhouses. The plans also include designated affordable housing through a combination of affordable rent and shared ownership.

Taylor Wimpey East Anglia is committed to long term reductions in carbon emissions through the use of materials and reducing energy consumption. This includes integrating measures to reduce water consumption into each home, so its requirement to achieve 110 litres of water per person per day is met. Each property will also include air source heat pumps, which extract heat from the outside air. This is a low-carbon alternative with a reduced reliance on electricity.

A mixture of garages, allocated parking spaces and visitor parking spaces will be provided throughout the development, with each home featuring EV charging capability. A comprehensive network of roads, footpaths and cycleways through the wider development also ensures that residents and visitors can use sustainable modes of transport. In addition, dedicated cycle storage will further promote sustainable travel.

Landscaping will ensure that the development delivers year-round interest, with amenity grassland, shrub and herbaceous planting, tree-lined streets and hedges made up of native species added to the boundaries of properties. Measures to support biodiversity will also include hedgehog highways, insect hotels, bird and bat boxes, and suitable habitats for reptiles.

The future Runway Park will form the southern boundary of Taylor Wimpey’s Alconbury Weald development, and the pocket park within the new homes will reflect the historic airfield and draw on influences from the geometry of the runways and aircraft standing areas to shape play and amenity areas.

We’re thrilled to be bringing forward plans for a high-quality, sustainable development as part of the ongoing transformation of Alconbury Weald.  The new homes will contribute to the vibrant, growing neighbourhood, offering a mix of housing options and green spaces for future residents. These will be our first homes at Alconbury Weald, and we look forward to seeing the plans come to life!
