Feeling festive at Alconbury Weald’s first Christmas market

Christmas Market (Alconbury Weald)

In a festive first for Alconbury Weald, the development recently hosted a pop-up Christmas market at The Glade, at the heart of the first phase of the development. Local traders brought a fantastic array of goodies including Christmas gifts, food and drink – and music was provided by a DJ – putting residents and shoppers in the festive mood.

The Glade, Alconbury Weald’s first local hub - providing facilities and amenities for the growing community - welcomed Co-op in the summer and is expected to bring forward plans for other local shops and a nursery next year. It sits next to the Pavilion community centre, the cafe and bistro, and just up from the Club which is home to the gym, flexible business space and meeting rooms and library. The Glade also provides public space for events, stalls and markets, which are expected to become a regular feature going forward.

Paul Murfin, Communities and Partnerships for Alconbury Weald, said: “The Glade provides the perfect setting for pop-up events like the Christmas market, and it was lovely to see so many people come out to support local producers and bop about to Christmas tunes.  Plans are already afoot for next year’s Christmas event!”
