Alconbury Weald Beer Festival

With the sun shining and the summer holidays looming, Alconbury Weald enjoyed a fabulous weekend of delectable drinks and fantastic food with friends, family and neighbours at this year’s Beer Festival.

Wheatsheaf Brewery was joined by The Watch Office Bar & Kitchen to provide punters with a vast selection of craft beers, cider, gin and cocktails, with soft drinks also available.

Attendees also enjoyed burgers and hot dogs from The Watch Office Bar & Kitchen’s food truck, or headed over to The Watch Office to select dishes from the full menu.

“I’m really proud we were able to put on 24 craft beers and 4 keg beers, all from local brewers we know; with some of them coming along to support us. The atmosphere has been amazing throughout the weekend, and it’s been great to see so much enthusiasm and support for local producers.”

As well as whiling away a few pleasant hours in the sunshine, festivalgoers enjoyed the fireworks display at the nearby USAAF base to celebrate American Independence Day on Friday evening and a cricket match on the green on Sunday afternoon.

“June has been a fabulous month for community events, with the Open Gardens followed by the Food Festival and last weekend’s Beer Festival. Our next big community event will be our Heritage Day in September, which always attracts a large crowd with the perfect mix of education, exhibitions and entertainment.

“As we head into the summer holidays, we hope residents and visitors will enjoy exploring Alconbury Weald’s trails and play parks, and we expect the community library to be busy with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge starting on 30 July.”
