Koalas in Capes! with Terrie Chilvers

Join author Terrie Chilvers for a lively, interactive storytelling event full of superheroes, villains, and plenty of koala-themed fun. Children aged 5 years and over can enjoy an exciting session filled with imagination, adventure, and stories as part of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

Join author and illustrator Matty Long, creator of the Super Happy Magic Forest series, for an interactive drawing workshop. Children aged 5 and over can get creative and learn about illustration as part of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

Storybook Village

Visit the Storybook Village to discover new stories to enjoy at home. As part of this free drop-in event, children aged up to 11 years old can choose up to three books to take home and keep completely free of charge.

The event will take place from 10am to midday and no booking is required. If you have gently used children’s books you would like to donate to the Storybook Village, please find out more via the Facebook page

Get creative with a fun-filled ‘Read to the Beat’ themed craft session as part of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. A great opportunity for children to get crafty, explore their creativity, and celebrate their summer reading journey.

Summer Reading Challenge

The Summer Reading Challenge is a nationwide initiative that inspires young readers (4-11 years old) to enjoy books throughout the school holidays.

We’re joining in and will be listening to children read, chatting about their latest literary adventures and awarding a sticker for every book completed from 10am to midday on Wednesdays during the summer holidays.

Mini Masterpieces

A weekly creative session for children aged 2.5–11 years and their grown-ups at The Pavilion, Alconbury Weald. Mini Masterpieces runs every Thursday, including school holidays, and it’s designed as a friendly, accessible creative activity session for local families. It’s a phone free, stay-and-create environment, so parents can connect and create alongside their child, and there are always five different creative activities to explore.
