Alconbury Weald community celebrates Halloween

Halloweald

To celebrate the spookiest of holidays, Alconbury Weald residents carved pumpkins, decorated their doorways, dressed up and enjoyed an afternoon of Halloween fun at Swynford Coffee before heading into the neighbourhood for some friendly trick-or-treating.

On 31 October, Swynford Coffee hosted an afternoon of spooky fun with seasonal drinks, cakes and bakes as well as activities to put everyone in the mood for some light-hearted haunting. Armed with glow sticks, temporary tattoos and Halloween buckets, little ones showed off their scariest, spookiest and most sparkly outfits.

During the half term break, Co-op donated pumpkins that the Alconbury Weald Community Association hid around the development. All families had to do was join the hunt and take their free pumpkin home to carve or decorate, ready to display at Halloween.

Before half term, Co-op also gifted a selection of pumpkins to Prestley Wood Academy to give students the opportunity to learn through sensory exploration, creativity and shared experiences.

A heartfelt thank you to the Co-op for kindly donating pumpkins for our students!  Their generosity has brought so much excitement, smiles and autumnal magic into our classrooms. Our students had lots of fun exploring the pumpkins, getting hands-on with carving and creative activities, investigating the seeds, and enjoying lots of wonderful learning experiences along the way.”

As well as traditional Jack-o-lanterns, students carved a range of Halloween inspired images including bats, cats and witch’s hats.

“A huge thank you to the Community Association, Co-op and Sywnford Coffee who pulled out all the stops – from trails and treats to decorations and activities – to bring the community together for some spooky fun. It was also great to see households across the development embrace the Halloween spirit, with some terrifying transformations and spooky displays.”
